Modeling is difficult.
It’s a simple problem that remains the single biggest bottleneck in enterprise planning.
The barrier to entry remains high, because working in any tool requires a user to have both institutional knowledge of their own business, and specialized platform knowledge. Those people are rare in any organization.
And at the same time, even experienced builders sometimes require days, weeks, or even months to build or update a model.
What we’re introducing today is a force multiplier, designed to tackle both of those challenges.
Introducing the Modeler Agent
The Modeler Agent allows users to describe what they want to build in natural language, and then see it happen in real-time.
It can generate model backbones, extend existing applications, create dashboards, and safely iterate on complex business logic.
It’s able to do this because it’s been built specifically to understand how both business planning and Pigment work - taking full account of dimensions, metrics, formulas, data relationships, performance considerations, and governance requirements.
And it does all this while explaining its choices and documenting every change, ensuring people stay in control of decisions and approvals.
It has the added benefit of making applications easier to understand and maintain.
"We went from something taking a week to build down to two days, because the Modeler Agent cuts trial and error, rework, and back and forth by laying out a clear plan and guiding execution.
It also makes modeling accessible to non-technical users by explaining what it’s doing and why, so they can build confidently, troubleshoot later, and keep work moving. The result is more velocity and compounding capability across the whole team.”

How it works
State your intent
Describe the outcome you want. For example: “Build an OPEX budgeting model by cost center and month.”
Review the plan
The agent will propose the structure, dimensions, metrics, formulas, blocks, and views, aligned to your existing application and best practices.
Stay in control
Review the actions the Modeler will take before it carries them out. The agent operates within your existing Pigment permissions and makes incremental, auditable updates.
Ship and iterate
Apply changes, refine assumptions, and keep work moving with a documented trail of what changed and why.
In an economic environment as fast-paced and volatile as the one we live in, intent modeling - which enables the rapid and continuous delivery of accurate models - is an invaluable tool in the arsenal of any business.
Your capabilities should be limited only by your imagination - not by your planning platform.
That’s what intent modeling delivers, and we’re excited to see what customers do with it.
What this means for you
Existing model builders
Intent modeling turns a great modeler into a brilliant one.
- Iterate faster on your ideas, without breaking existing application logic
- Ensure best practices are built into your models
- Get instant answers to technical questions about your models
- Import data and build directly in Pigment - no Excel prototyping
"What used to take hours of designing, modeling and framework building can now be done in minutes. Instead of starting from zero, it takes our initial idea and fills the blank canvas, getting us to more than 80% of the way to a solid starting point so we can focus on refining rather than building from scratch."

Business leaders and execs
Get more from your team and your investment.
- Applications delivered in days, rather than months
- Easily spin up new use cases and adapt your models as priorities evolve
- Make better decisions based on better-maintained models that stay up-to-date
- Get hands on: run analyses and spin up models without technical support
CIOs and IT leaders
Intent modeling evolves Pigment from a planning tool to strategic infrastructure upon which you can build any business application.
- Use one single platform to model business logic, data, and structure
- Built-in explainability and governance
- A scalable foundation for business applications
Ultimately intent modeling means time to value drops dramatically, and teams are now empowered to work beyond where their limits lay previously.
“I can describe my intent and the agent immediately scopes the work - mapping out data metrics, assumptions, and background calculations - which handles the 25-50% of the upfront structure that usually takes hours to build… I think all model building is going to be agent-assisted from here on.”
